When I first decided on a name for this film blog, I was in my early 20s and I thought it was pretty clever. I actually thought it I invented the name. I'm much older now and I no longer think it is that bright.
My driver's licence is from Memphis, TN, my mailing address is in Duluth, GA, while I actually live in
Silver Spring, MD. What worry about is that it's very likely I have been summoned for jury duty somewhere I don't live. I hope my fears are unfounded.
I am Bella Manning, an film researcher and blogger with an affinity for action movies (go figure). I was once told that my name sounded like a bratty movie diva who needs a lesson in empathy. I took it as a compliment. I got my bachelors
degree in screenwriting from
Savannah College of Art and Design several years ago, and have been involved in the film industry since them. I worked on a few film Hollywood productions as a line producer only to discover that my passion is more for writing. I transitioned into the indie film sector when the LA culture became overwhelming for me.
After working as a screenwriter for hire over a number of years, took off for a few years to explore my country of origin, Italy. May parents moved to the United States when I was 3 years old and haven't gone back since then. I figured that it was important to know where I come from and check that off my bucket list. While in Rome, I got an opportunity to improve on my
Italian while working on a few film projects over there. I also did some volunteer working as an assistant screenwriting teacher as part of an after-school program. My brother, who's currently an indie film director, joined me there for a quick visit. We got to explore the countrysides of Italy and capture some great footage.
On returning back to the US, I worked as a film proposal writer for a number of years during which I helped a lot of with their film business plans. Once I discover blogging, I took a sudden interest in it. While I don't get to do as much as I would like to, it's always a breath of fresh air when I get to do it, and it certainly serves as escape from the monotony of providing structured writing services.
I certainly glad you're interested in my writing, I hope I can maintain your interest.
